MEET TAMMY 

Councilmember Tammy Kim, elected in 2020, is a dedicated public servant, community leader, educator, and mother. Tammy Kim has a diverse background as a nonprofit leader, educator, community advocate, small-business owner, and former corporate executive. She serves as the Executive Director of the Korean American Center, an Irvine-based nonprofit. Her professional career includes significant roles in Fortune 500 companies and venture-backed technology startups, where she managed complex business and management issues on a global scale. She has lived, worked, and raised her son in Irvine for over two decades.

As a working mom, Tammy understands the day-to-day realities that residents face. Since being elected to the Council, Tammy has actively tackled key issues such as housing affordability, environmental sustainability, public safety, and economic development. A staunch advocate for affordable housing, she has spearheaded new policies to make housing more accessible to everyone in Irvine. Tammy has been instrumental in enhancing public safety and promoting economic growth. Her transformative vision for the Great Park will make it a center of recreation enriching the quality of life for Irvine residents.

 

As Mayor, Tammy will bring forward-thinking leadership and bold, visionary policies to propel Irvine forward as a model of innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability. Her vision for Irvine as an economic powerhouse, where innovation fosters high-quality jobs and a robust business environment, is central to her agenda. Committed to enhancing public safety and reducing traffic congestion, Tammy plans to implement
innovative transit solutions that improve city connectivity. Her dedication to making Irvine an affordable
place for teachers, nurses, police officers, firefighters, and young professionals underscores her
commitment to a vibrant, inclusive community. Additionally, Tammy is committed to transforming the Great Park into a world-class destination and major economic driver for Irvine, ensuring it will be enjoyed for generations to come.


In addition to her council duties, Tammy has been actively involved in various influential regional boards
and committees, including the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), Orange County
Council of Governments (OCCOG), Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), Orange County Power Authority
(OCPA), Orange County Public Libraries, Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control, League of California
Cities Orange County Division Board of Directors as the Large City Representative, Orange County Housing
Finance Trust, Irvine Child Care Committee, and Irvine Unified School District/Tustin Unified School District Liaison. Her involvement in these organizations and committees provides her with valuable insights into a wide range of issues affecting the city.
